19. give up a.放棄 +n./doing 當(dāng)賓語(yǔ)是it/them時(shí)，則放在up 之前。
e.g.He was forced to give up school.他被迫輟學(xué)。

b.獻(xiàn)出，讓出，交出
He gave up his seat to the old woman.

c.投降，認(rèn)輸，泄氣，其后可以不接賓語(yǔ)
e.g. Don’t give up, you may succeed.
d. give up on 對(duì)---表示絕望，放棄，（不可以用被動(dòng)態(tài)）
I give up upon you.我對(duì)你不抱希望了。
give up on sport 放棄體育運(yùn)動(dòng)
give oneself up 自首
